The Medical Progressive Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 21-bed high acuity step-down unit, caring for critically ill adult medical patients. Patient population includes those with complex organ disease, requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and continuous monitoring. Common medical diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver failure, and DKA. Nurse to patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity. There is opportunity for growth on the MPCU, regardless of where you are in your career!

Additionally, you would care for a spectrum of patients with neurological disorders, cerebrovascular events and status epilepticus. The staff works with medical therapies in addition to devices and integrated technology to enhance assessment skills which include: EVDs, Artic Sun , Pupilometer.
