What you’ll do 

Embedded in our Finance team, the Accountant role will perform our day-to-day accounting transactions for Charitable Impact Foundation and provide strategic input to our overall finance practices. Confidentiality, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are key qualifications for this position. Our ideal candidate is an effective communicator, multi-tasker and thrives in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Your responsibilities

Gift Administration/General Accounting

Post and import donation and disbursement entries in Accounting software Prepare and process vendor invoices Resolve purchase order, contract invoice, or payment discrepancies Conduct a monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts Track accrued liabilities and prepaid expenses; post adjusting journal entries Calculate amortization expense; post journal entries Create and manage Non-Cash asset accounts in Accounting software Provide vacation relief for payroll, donation and disbursement processing Review payroll on a bi-weekly basis

Financial Reporting

Support the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, trend analysis, variance analysis, and strategic business planning Support the monthly reporting for the business that includes variance to budget and forecasts Prepare financial statements and analysis for reporting to internal and external stakeholders Work closely with department leads to resolve budget variances and discrepancies Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements

Taxes

Collect sales taxes from customers and remit on a monthly basis Record sales taxes by charged by vendors

General

Maintain a complete and orderly digital and physical accounting filing system Maintain confidentiality for all accounting and payroll related information Provide information to third-party accounting and audit partners as requested Provide additional clerical and administrative support as required Respond to inquiries and information requests in a solutions oriented and timely manner

What we're looking for

CPA or University Degree in Accounting or Business Administration 5-8 years of experience in an accounting or related finance role Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge QuickBooks Enterprise Strong communication skills Excellent organizational skills
