Job Summary:
AbbVie is looking for a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist to join our discovery research team in Los Angeles, California. This position will involve designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to research projects aimed at identifying and validating novel drug targets and therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced scientists and utilize a range of laboratory techniques to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms and evaluate potential therapies. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career scientist to gain valuable experience in pharmaceutical research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Perform a variety of biological and biochemical assays (e.g., cell culture, ELISA, Western blot, PCR).
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records.
  • Prepare reports and present research findings at team meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of new experimental protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • Stay updated on relevant scientific literature and advancements.
  • Assist with laboratory organization and maintenance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience (academic or industry).
  • Hands-on experience with basic molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Strong understanding of scientific principles and experimental design.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with specific disease models relevant to AbbVie's therapeutic areas.
  • Experience with automation or high-throughput screening.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software.
  • Experience presenting scientific data.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a laboratory setting. This requires adherence to strict safety protocols and potentially working with hazardous materials. This position is No remote.
