General Description of the Job Class Perform a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. Duties and Responsibilities of this Level Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians. Perform the quality control functions related to mammography. Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed. Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients. Charge mammographic procedures and supplies in Maestro or EPIC. Provide orientation to new Mammographers. Provide education and training to student Mammographers. Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data. Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures. Monitor mammography section procedures and supply charges to ensure completeness and accuracy. Technologists initially qualifying on or after April 28, 1999, must meet the Mammo-Specific requirements by having at least 40 hours of documented training in mammography. Experience Level I must obtain ARRT certification at time of employment. Performance of a minimum of 25 mammography exams under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA qualified individual. At least 8 hours of training in using any modality (e.g., digital) before beginning to use that modality independently. Level II Minimum of two years' experience as a Mammography technologist. Must perform at least 200 mammography examinations in a 24 month period. Level III A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification ARRT certification in radiography ARRT advanced certification in mammography FDA/MQSA qualified to include meeting the MQSA CE requirements of at least 15 CEUs in a 36 month period that must include at least 6 CEUs in each mammographic modality used. What you will do:

• Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

• Exams performed include carotid, AAA, resting and exercise ABI, renal, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial, hemodialysis graft, pre-op mapping, venous insufficiency, mesenteric, pseudo aneurysm and EVAR and bypass grafts.

• Follow established departmental policy.

• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.

• Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.

• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the Radiologist.

• Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.

• Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.

• Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department.

• Completes exam tracking/billing accurately on a daily basis.

• Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.

Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience:

Level I

Must obtain CT certification within 18 months of employment. 

Level II

Minimum of two years' experience as a CT technologist.

Level III

A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Certification in one of the following required: Radiography (R), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT.

ARRT registered in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 18 months of employment.

BLS certification.

General Description of the Job Class

Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

• Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
• Assist radiologist with procedure protocoling and performance. Start I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
• Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of acquisition and label appropriately.
• Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
• Charge MR procedures and supplies in EHR
• Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Provide orientation for new technologists
• Provide education and training for student technologists.
• Provide for the psychological and physical needs of patients for MR procedures.
• Understand and use the Image Archival System
• Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
• Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as required.
• Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
• Assist radiologist with procedure performance. Administer contrast media or as directed and per protocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately.
• Coordinate scheduling and patient flow involving multiple MR sites.
• Assist with education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, and fellows, attending's) if Applicable.
• Assist radiologists and physicists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques that are unique to DUHS
• Help facilitate research for the Duke Health System by scanning and using protocols given. Demonstrate proficiency in the 100+ MR protocols in the Health System. Teach the correct application of these protocols to new technologists, physicians, and researchers.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein
