Location: Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Pentagon, and other office locations within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Space Acquisition & Architecture Analyst to provide advisory and integration support for enterprise-level space acquisition programs and architectures. This role supports senior leadership on strategy, portfolio oversight, and acquisition planning for high-priority space systems.

The ideal candidate brings significant experience in space or Air Force acquisition programs, understands DoD acquisition pathways, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, senior-level environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise senior leadership on space acquisition strategies, documentation, and execution.

  • Provide expert analysis to support enterprise architecture planning, capability integration, and portfolio-level decision-making.

  • Prepare high-level recommendations and reports to guide strategic oversight and investment decisions.

  • Support executive-level forums and decision bodies by delivering briefings, white papers, and acquisition strategy inputs.

  • Monitor and assess program performance, providing actionable insights into cost, schedule, technical risk, and capability delivery.

  • Support strategic communications efforts, including crafting talking points, executive messages, and stakeholder engagement materials.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate policy, budget, and capability development objectives into cohesive acquisition strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor-s degree in engineering, business, public policy, or related field (Master-s preferred).

  • 10+ years of relevant acquisition experience, with emphasis on space programs, Air Force acquisition, or National Security Space portfolios.

  • TS/SCI clearance required; SAP eligibility highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings, and recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes, statutory/regulatory compliance, and portfolio-level integration.

Preferred Expertise & Background:

  • Deep familiarity with space architectures, capability integration, and enterprise-level planning.

  • Experience supporting Program Executive Officers (PEOs), senior acquisition executives, or similar decision-making bodies.

  • Knowledge of PPBE process and related tools

  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition frameworks.

  • Ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder engagements and work across Air Force, Space Force, OSD, and joint communities.

  • Strong skills in strategic communications and executive-level support for high-ranking decision-makers.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Architecture Standards & Governance is responsible for creating, reviewing and updating architecture standards including Enterprise Architecture standards, intake processes, architectural artifacts and output (diagrams, documentation, etc.). The Senior Manager, Architecture Standards & Governance is also responsible for ensuring these standards are followed throughout the complete lifecycle of the architecture work and is sustained throughout the application development & engineering cycles.

The Senior Manager, Architecture Standards & Governance is responsible for providing metrics and KPIs on architectural compliance; tracking & managing exceptions with timelines; and providing a monthly report to senior technology leadership summarizing the overall state of architecture as it relates to technology standards, process governance, and risk identification & mitigation plans. The Senior Manager, Architecture Standards & Governance will be a leader in accelerating technology standards and advancing the maturity of our enterprise technology across applications, infrastructure, and integrated solutions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee Architectural Governance - Develop clear processes for architectural decision-making, review and approval. Implement industry standard decision-making frameworks to ensure decisions are well documented and consistent. Oversee the Architecture and Solution Review Board, setting standards for projects to be evaluated to architecture standards. Ensure architectural team complies with all applicable architecture standards.
  • Develop Architectural Standards Define and create standards for UDX architecture documentation and frameworks, artifacts, and processes by following industry standards. Using a knowledge of architecture processes ensure each architecture artifacts official document repository, sequence diagrams, component diagrams, data models, cloud standards, network diagrams, etc. have well defined standards. In addition, ensure standards for application architecture, including service design standards, infrastructure architecture, and integration architecture. Design performance standards Ensure standards are published in an architecture repository. Define and approve tooling for each architecture artifact.
  • Ensure Alignment - Ensure architecture alignment with other teams including security, data privacy, network and infrastructure teams around architectural standards and reference architectures. Participate in audits and ensure architectural documentation is in alignment with audit needs. Build upskilling community of practice and create and provide training for other teams over architectural design patterns and standards. Align with other governance teams around CMDB and EA tooling.
  • Technical Collaboration - Collaborate with project management office (PMO) and other teams to set architecture standards for project intake, and day to day work (Jira). Document process and work with PMO to ensure all teams are following the process. Ensure other teams are following architecture processes for work.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, information technology or similar preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 9+ years of experience in IT architecture, standards and governance.
  • Experience in managing enterprise architecture or governance teams.
  • Hands on experience with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman and Agile frameworks such as SAFe along with other IT frameworks such as ITIL.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or other architectural framework certification preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or other project management certification preferred
  • Cloud platform certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect preferred
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Extensive experience with IT governance frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of Enterprise Data Management and architecture.
  • Deep technical understanding of enterprise architecture concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience in consulting with senior-level executives.
  • Broad technology knowledge including cloud computing, networking, data storage, application development, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in project or program management.
  • Risk management experience to identify and assess and mitigate architectural and technical risks to ensure alignment.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills to support challenges in standardization.
  • Ability to adapt and innovate based on evolving technology trends or organizational needs.
  • Detail-oriented and organized to enable a meticulous approach to documenting standards, conducting reviews and tracking compliance.
  • Proficiency using data to measure governance effectiveness and inform decisions.
  • Strong skills in system design and integration patterns including microservices, APIs, and data integration.
  • Experience in stakeholder management along with team leadership, management and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with architectural tools and applications such as LeanIX, PlantUML/Mermaid, Signavio, Vizio/Draw.io, OpenAPI/Async API etc.
  • Experience with DevOps and Automation including infrastructure-as-code.
  • Ability to research and provide insights on industry standards and technology assessments.
  • Familiarity with devops practices, automation, and CI/CD.
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud technology platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
