This client is growing quickly and has openings for both EIT’s and experienced PE’s. These are direct hire positions with excellent pay and benefits, and lots of room for growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Design and manage multifamily, commercial, municipal, and academic buildings using Revit
- Hire, train and manage team of junior Engineers
- Visit construction sites to make sure work is progressing according to plan
- Communicate project status to both internal and external groups

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Job Summary:
The Controls Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and producing detailed HVAC and building automation control solutions for EMC clients and projects. This position will play a key role in developing control system drawings, sequences of operation, and selecting components that align with project specifications and installation requirements. The person will serve as a key technical contributor, creating and documenting system designs while collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful implementation in the field. This role will include, but is not limited to, integrating with various building systems, applying in-depth HVAC and BAS knowledge to support cost-effective and energy-efficient designs, and contributing to continuous improvement of EMCs design standards and processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and produce AutoCAD-based control system drawings, including riser diagrams, floorplans with device locations, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Create and edit sequences of operation (SOO) for HVAC and building automation systems based on mechanical plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and field technicians to ensure alignment between design intent and installation practices.
- Select and specify appropriate sensors, actuators, controllers, network infrastructure, and panel components for each project.
- Prepare submittal and construction packages including network architecture diagrams and device addressing plans.
- Support RFIs and submittal reviews from contractors and field personnel during construction.
- Provide technical support during project turnover, startup, and commissioning.
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, NEC), and customer specifications.
- Assist in the development of standard design templates and process improvements.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail in technical writing.

- Familiarity with HVAC systems, mechanical schedules, and control sequences.
- Basic knowledge of DDC systems (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, etc.).
- Understanding of communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position operates in a professional office environment and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds

Job Description
Join Olsson's South Facilities Engineering and Design team and help deliver high‑performing buildings across healthcare, education, data centers, laboratories, commercial, and federal markets. You'll take on meaningful design ownership, coordinate across disciplines, and see your work through construction—growing your technical depth and leadership while contributing to a diverse set of complex facility projects that make a real impact.
Primary Responsibilities
- Own design packages for building structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry, light gage) including gravity and lateral analysis, calculations, and details.
- Produce and check drawings and models in Revit/AutoCAD; coordinate diligently with architectural, MEP, and site/civil teams for a fully integrated set.
- Apply codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360) to ensure safe, constructible, and cost‑effective designs.
- Support project planning—estimate level of effort, sequence design tasks, and help maintain scope, schedule, and quality commitments.
- Participate in QA/QC by performing self‑checks and peer reviews; incorporate redlines and lessons learned to elevate deliverables.
- Engage during construction—review submittals/RFIs, conduct site observations, and document field findings that inform design improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians through task guidance, model setup, and standards adoption.
- Contribute to proposals (scope notes, resumes, past performance) and occasional client meetings to support team growth
