Job Purpose

Member of an associate team with the responsibility for performing tactical and strategic buying activities to support on time delivery and overall part readiness in support Manufacturing, Engine Assembly and MRO. Support of cost, sourcing, and supplier management functions in the Purchasing Department.  Initiate and evaluate RFQ/ RFPs to support business needs, place POs based on cost, quality and delivery requirements, and coordinate meetings with suppliers and customers to ensure business project goals are being met.  This position will be responsible to ensure on time delivery and achievement of project goals. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Supplier communication and follow up to support on time delivery for manufacturing, engine assembly, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) and facility needs.  Ability to problem solve and make decisions to support hardware disposition and expediting to achieve on time delivery. 
  • Supplier request for quotation (RFQ) and negotiation.  Award business based on the best possible quality, cost and delivery terms.
  • Work with Engineering (HGPU) and Suppliers to accomplish process improvement goals in support of on time delivery.  Work with internal and external customers to support process changes and other project related items.
  • Provide support to team members to ensure process are understood and followed.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, manufacturing engineering or closely related field or equivalent work experience in procurement or supply chain related field

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 3 years procurement or logistics related experience is required.
  • Strong project management and good problem solving skills are required.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and work in teams to build consensus.

Other Job-Specific Skills

  • Computer skills Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good negotiation and analytical skills are required.

Supports operational functions for the Downtown/Midtown Tunnels under the general supervision of the Operations Control Room Supervisor or other supervisory/management -level positions within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Requires completion of a high school diploma, general education degree (GED).  A minimum of one (1) year of equivalent work experience in traffic operations and/or related functions.  Experience dispatching personnel and resources during emergency situations preferred. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job is performed in the Control Room with frequent sitting (often working on a computer) or possibly on the jobsite. 
Worker is subject to varying inside and /or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
Working in and around high traffic volumes is also likely during emergency response situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The traffic crew will perform flagging duties in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. This includes setting up and using signs and equipment to direct traffic around work zones. Requirements: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Key Responsibilities:

Propulsion & Fuel System Integration:

  • Lead the integration of new turbofan engines and associated fuel systems into the aircraft design.
  • Define and manage system-level requirements, interfaces, and design constraints for propulsion, fuel systems, and bleed air.
  • Guide supplier selection and coordination, ensuring design alignment and certification readiness.
  • Ensure mechanical and electrical subsystems are harmonized with engine and fuel system integration needs.
  • Coordinate the integration and application of engine bleed air for aircraft anti-ice and pneumatic systems, ensuring safe and effective performance.

FAA Certification & Safety:

  • Serve as the technical lead for propulsion and fuel systems certification efforts.
  • Coordinate with FAA ACOs and DERs (Designated Engineering Representatives) on compliance planning and issue resolution.
  • Develop and contribute to compliance documentation, including means of compliance matrices, certification plans, compliance checklists, and engineering reports.
  • Author, support, and review System Safety Assessments (SSAs), including FHA, FTA, and SSA documents per ARP4761 guidance.
  • Drive validation of certification artifacts against FAA Part 23 requirements.

Testing & Evaluation:

  • Support propulsion and fuel system ground and flight test programs.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for any propulsion-related anomalies or discrepancies during testing.
  • Evaluate performance data and verify compliance with safety and performance objectives.

CAD Modeling:

  • Use Siemens NX for 3D Modeling, assembly design, and drafting. Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage product data, track design changes, and ensure documentation is current and accessible using Teamcenter, Jira, and Confluence.

Problem Solving:

  • Analyze and resolve design issues, offering innovative solutions to engineering challenges.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the design and development team.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in aerospace, Mechanical, or Propulsion Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in aircraft turbofan propulsion system design and integration, with at least 5 years supporting FAA certification (Part 23 or Part 25).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading System Safety Assessments.
  • Solid understanding of FAA certification processes, including working with FAA DERs or as an ODA member.
  • Working knowledge ofaircraft fuel system design, propulsion system controls, and engine bleed air systems (particularly for anti-icing and pneumatic integration).

Software Skills:

  • Experience with Simulink, MATLAB, or engine performance simulation tools is desired.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter is preferred.

Preferred Experience:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in STAR-CCM+ or Ansys Fluent and a strong background in design optimization, aerodynamic load determination, HVAC simulation, aero-acoustic simulation, and the correlation of wind tunnel data to CFD analysis especially as it relates to high-speed jet aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aerothermal Analysis:
    • Perform aerothermal analysis using STAR-CCM+ or Fluent to support the design and development of aerospace components and systems.
    • Correlate wind tunnel data with CFD results to validate models and improve simulation accuracy.
    • Determine aerodynamic loads and applicable use cases to ensure structural integrity and performance.
  • Design Optimization:
    • Utilize design optimization techniques to enhance the performance and efficiency of aerospace systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optimization results into the overall design process.
  • HVAC and Aero-Acoustic Simulation:
    • Conduct HVAC simulations to evaluate and improve thermal management systems.
    • Perform aero-acoustic simulations to analyze and mitigate noise generation in aerospace applications.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve design issues, offering innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Testing and Validation: Participate in prototype testing and validation to ensure designs perform under various conditions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the design and development team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
    • Proven experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+ or Ansys Fluent and CFD analysis of internal and external flows, including transonic conditions.
    • Strong background in correlating wind tunnel data with CFD results.
    • Expertise in design optimization and topology techniques.
    • HVAC design optimization including aero-acoustic considerations.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Proficiency with Siemens development ecosystem and workflow between NX, STAR-CCM+, and Simcenter 3D with Nastran.
    • Agile Development using Jira Sprint Methodology.
    • Familiarity with the Teamcenter PLM environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical data and provide effective solutions.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and document technical information to various stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the design, testing and documentation of new products as well as supporting manufacturing. This role will collaborate with sales, business development and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design problems.

Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical component and system design, including new product development and support of sustaining production of existing designs.
  • Accountability for development and test of new design configurations, independently leading component detail design including layout and modeling by designers and drafters, tolerance stack-ups and drawing approvals, and detailed analysis such as stress/FEA/fatigue.
  • Interface with internal and external customers & suppliers to clarify design intent and technical requirements, planning and defining program workload, leading design teams.
  • Write test plans and test reports in support of new development and product improvement programs.
  • Support and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
  • Drive engineering design and development process improvements. Lead internal and external design reviews. Review and approve designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles in peer reviews.
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Engineering or related technical field and 10 years’ experience as a project/design engineer, OR
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and 13 years’ experience as a project/design engineer, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and minimum 15 years’ experience as a project/design engineer
  • Senior level experience in component design layout and modeling, detail design and drafting per ASME Y14.5, analysis, and qualification test. Complete understanding of manufacturing and assembly methods.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft systems and the effects of components on system operation and performance.
  • Expert knowledge of industry design practices to predict component reliability, working knowledge of reliability analysis, fault-tree analysis, FMEA, FMECA, durability analysis, damage tolerance analysis, and wear analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of stress analysis, FEA, fatigue analysis, non-linear strain analysis, tolerance stackups, performance analysis, weight analysis, vibration analysis, thermal analysis, corrosion control, and material and process control.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Up to 10% travel
