Job Summary:
The Home Depot is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our network serving customers in New York City. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial properties. This role requires technical expertise, excellent diagnostic skills, and strong customer service abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install new HVAC systems according to specifications and local codes.
- Perform preventative maintenance on existing HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment (furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, etc.).
- Perform repairs and replace faulty components.
- Test HVAC systems to ensure proper functioning after installation or repair.
- Explain technical issues and repair options clearly to customers.
- Provide estimates for repairs and installations.
- Collect payment for services rendered.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage inventory of tools and parts in the service vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Keep up-to-date with new HVAC technologies and techniques.
- Prepare service reports.
- May be required to work on-call or during evenings/weekends.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding refrigerants.
- Recommend system upgrades or replacements when necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited HVAC technical program is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Technician.
- Valid HVAC certification (e.g., NATE, EPA Section 608 certification).
- Relevant state or local licenses/certifications as required in New York City.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC system components, installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency in using HVAC tools and test equipment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in various environments (attics, crawl spaces), and stand/kneel for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including potential on-call rotation.
- Problem-solving attitude.
- Attention to detail.
