ExxonMobil is seeking a Process Operator in Jacksonville, Florida!

Join ExxonMobil's operations team in Jacksonville, FL, and play a key role in our petroleum terminal operations! We are looking for a skilled Process Operator to monitor and control equipment and processes involved in receiving, storing, and distributing petroleum products. In this role, you will work in a terminal facility, ensuring safe and efficient operations, monitoring process parameters, and responding to operational needs.

You will be responsible for operating pumps, valves, and other equipment, conducting routine checks, and adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations. This position requires technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safe work practices. You will work as part of a team to ensure the reliable flow of energy products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control process equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, and pipelines.
  • Operate control panels and computer systems to manage product movements and storage.
  • Conduct routine checks and inspections of equipment and facilities.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all operational activities.
  • Respond to process alarms and deviations, taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collect samples and perform basic laboratory tests on products.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other operators.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of operational activities and data.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist maintenance in repairs.
  • Ensure proper handling of petroleum products.
  • Monitor tank levels and temperatures.
  • Assist in loading and unloading operations (truck, rail, marine).
  • Implement lockout/tagout procedures when required.
  • Respond to emergencies, such as spills or fires, following established procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the operating area.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understand and follow all security protocols for the facility.
  • Calibrate instruments and sensors as needed.
  • Ensure accurate measurement of product volumes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for operational incidents.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the terminal layout and process flow.
  • Operate forklifts or other mobile equipment if required.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Understand and utilize process documentation (P&IDs, flow diagrams).
  • Be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as terminal operations are 24/7.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or technical certification in process technology, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience as a process operator, field operator, or similar role in a refinery, chemical plant, terminal, or heavy industrial facility.
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics, pumps, valves, and piping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk long distances, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Must pass a background check, physical examination, and drug screening.
  • Experience operating process control systems (DCS, SCADA) is a plus.
