Full Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in New York City, New York. This role involves designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components for complex defense and technology projects. You will apply your expertise in electrical engineering principles to create innovative solutions for challenging applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Design electrical circuits, components, and systems using CAD/CAE tools.
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout specifications.
  • Perform analysis and simulations (e.g., circuit analysis, signal integrity, power distribution).
  • Select and evaluate electrical components based on requirements and performance criteria.
  • Build and test prototypes of electrical designs.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during development and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical, software, systems engineering).
  • Support system integration and testing activities.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures for electrical systems.
  • Document electrical designs, test results, and analysis findings.
  • Ensure designs comply with performance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., military standards, IPC standards).
  • Participate in technical reviews and provide input on design decisions.
  • Work with suppliers on component selection and development.
  • Support manufacturing during the production phase.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.) for testing and debugging.
  • Manage engineering change orders related to electrical designs.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and testability.
  • Perform power budget and thermal analysis for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to proposals and new business development efforts.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical design.
  • Ensure designs adhere to cyber security requirements.
  • Develop firmware or work closely with firmware engineers.
  • Support field testing and sustainment activities.
  • Present technical concepts and designs to peers and management.
  • Analyze test data and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of requirements.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, defense technology environment.
  • Maintain a security clearance or ability to obtain one may be required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in electrical design and development, preferably in the defense, aerospace, or related technology industry.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD/CAE tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence, Spice).
  • Experience with circuit design, analysis, and simulation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems design is a plus.
  • Experience with testing and debugging electrical hardware.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and military specifications is desirable.
  • Experience with power electronics, RF design, or digital design is a plus depending on the specific role.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
