Morgan Stanley is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our technology team in Dallas, Texas. This role is critical for leading the design and development of robust, scalable, and secure software solutions that support Morgan Stanley's global financial operations. The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for guiding technical direction, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software within a fast-paced and complex financial technology environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and development of critical software systems and applications.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of software engineers.
- Architect and design scalable, high-performance, and resilient software solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level software engineers.
- Contribute to the improvement of engineering processes, tools, and infrastructure.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.
- Participate in agile development methodologies and ceremonies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of applications in production.
- Work closely with operations teams to monitor and support deployed software.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools.
- Contribute to strategic technical decisions and roadmap planning.
- Identify potential technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Implement and promote automated testing practices.
- Drive continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Develop APIs and integrate with various internal and external systems.
- Understand and apply principles of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead technical discussions and presentations.
- Take ownership of technical deliverables and project success.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to financial technology.
- Provide technical support during production incidents.
- Contribute to the overall technical strategy of the organization.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and code analysis.
- Assist in project estimation and planning.
- Handle multiple priorities and manage time effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
- Strong proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
- Experience designing and building large-scale, complex software systems.
- Understanding of financial markets, products, or systems is a strong plus.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is desirable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding financial technology environment.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
