ConocoPhillips is seeking a skilled Production Technician to join our operations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Job Summary:
ConocoPhillips is seeking a skilled Production Technician to join our operations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. While ConocoPhillips typically focuses on upstream exploration and production, this fictional role is tailored to manufacturing related to their midstream or downstream support operations in a key urban logistics hub. As a Production Technician, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring equipment in a production facility, ensuring processes run smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Operate production equipment and machinery according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor production processes, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates using control systems and gauges.
- Conduct routine checks and inspections of equipment and the production area.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions or process deviations.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks and assist maintenance personnel with repairs.
- Collect samples and perform quality control tests on materials and finished products.
- Maintain accurate production logs and records.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or equipment issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
- Clean and maintain the production area to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians, operators, and engineers.
- Follow instructions and respond to directions from shift supervisors.
- Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed (certification may be required).
- Assist in the startup and shutdown of process units.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Process Technology, Manufacturing, or a related technical field is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience as a production technician or operator in a manufacturing or industrial environment (experience in chemical, refining, or energy-related industries is beneficial).
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) is a plus.
- Familiarity with control systems (e.g., SCADA, DCS) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
- Commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and drug test.
