Associate Staff Accountant at PwC in San Antonio, Texas

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) invites driven individuals to apply for the Associate Staff Accountant position in our San Antonio office. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in public accounting who is eager to learn and contribute to a team serving diverse clients. You will gain valuable experience in audit, tax, or advisory services within a leading global professional services firm.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior staff and managers with various accounting tasks for clients.
  • Participate in audit engagements, including testing controls and performing substantive procedures.
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, or partnerships.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Perform account reconciliations and verify transactions.
  • Gather and organize financial data provided by clients.
  • Utilize accounting software and internal tools efficiently.
  • Document work performed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Learn and apply accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards (GAAS).
  • Communicate with client personnel to gather information and clarify details.
  • Identify potential issues and report them to senior team members.
  • Assist with research on technical accounting or tax matters.
  • Participate in internal and external training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Support multiple client engagements simultaneously.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Prepare working papers and documentation to support conclusions.
  • Assist with process improvements for accounting procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Develop a basic understanding of client businesses and industries.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and deliverables for clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in accounting (internships in public accounting are a strong plus).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
