ConocoPhillips is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy
Trading Analyst to join our team in San Francisco, California. In
this role, you will support our trading desk by providing market
analysis, developing trading strategies, and managing trading
positions. You will work with complex data, financial models, and
market intelligence to identify trading opportunities and manage risk
in global energy markets, including crude oil, natural gas, and
refined products.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of global energy markets, including supply/demand fundamentals, geopolitical factors, and market dynamics.
- Develop and maintain quantitative models for trading strategies, price forecasting, and risk management.
- Analyze market data, news, and events to identify trading opportunities and assess market sentiment.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing market analysis and trading recommendations.
- Work closely with traders to execute trading strategies and manage positions.
- Monitor trading positions and ensure compliance with risk limits.
- Collaborate with risk management and back office teams to ensure accurate trade capture and reporting.
- Utilize trading platforms and data visualization tools.
- Stay current with regulatory changes affecting energy trading.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new trading tools and systems.
- Provide market insights and support to other teams within the company.
- Perform post-trade analysis to evaluate performance and identify lessons learned.
- Contribute to the development of trading desk strategies.
- Troubleshoot data and model issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in energy trading, commodity markets, financial analysis, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of energy markets and commodities (crude oil, natural gas, etc.).
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
- Experience with programming languages commonly used in finance/trading (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
- Familiarity with trading platforms and data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Understanding of financial risk management principles.
