Duke Life Flight seeks to hire an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner  who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together .

Duke Life Flight is a CAMTS accredited critical care and Emergency Air and Ground transport agency in Durham, NC, providing services to North Carolina and its surrounding states. We operate two state-of-the-art rotor wing aircraft and a fleet of critical care, and advanced life support ambulances. We are one of few rotor-wing aeromedical Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capable flight programs in North Carolina. Our respiratory care practitioners with our Life Flight team transport pediatric, and neonatal patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We provide rapid access to health care for patients when time, specialized skills, and/or specialized resources are critical for survival.

General Description of the Job Class

Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice, performing work in accordance with physician orders in the neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory Care Practitioner I.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.
  • Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities.
  • Proficient in the application of Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV); Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP)
  • Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation of a Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner. Perform extubations.
  • Serve as member of the code/ emergency team. Administer medical gases.
  • Insert nasogastric and orogastric tubes.
  • Perform tracheotomy tube changes. Perform capnography monitoring.
  • Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection.
  • Interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
  • Participate in clinical rounds with physicians, nurses and other health care providers
  • Assist with Bronchoscopy. Assist with orientation and training of Level II RT.
  • Assure safe operations of devices in the MRI.
  • Qualified for certification in the hyperbaric chamber if applicable to the institution scope of practice

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

  • Completion of a two year AMA approved Respiratory Care Program - (Associates Degree or the equivalent).
  • Must maintain annual skill maintenance and annual safety/compliance requirements
  • Must maintain North Carolina annual license requirements for CEUs

Experience

  • A minimum of three years (preference of four years) experience in clinical respiratory therapy, including a minimum of one year in intensive care respiratory therapy within a neonatal or pediatric ICU.
  • Advanced certification required (C-NPT) within two years of hire. If hired with critical care transport experience, C-NPT or NPS certification highly preferred.

The Tool & Die Technician plays a crucial role in the manufacturing industry, specializing in the design, fabrication, and repair of precision tools and dies used in production processes. This full-time position requires a blend of technical proficiency, creativity, and problem-solving skills to craft tools that meet stringent specifications. As a Toolmaker, you will work with a variety of materials and techniques, ensuring that tools are produced efficiently and maintained for optimal performance. Collaboration with engineers, machinists, and other team members is essential to develop innovative solutions and improving manufacturing processes. A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality are paramount, as is the ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Tool Design and Fabrication:

  • Develop and create blueprints and prototypes for new tools and dies.
  • Utilize CAD software for designing tools that meet production requirements.
  • Tig Welding and Hand Working Welded

Machining Operations:

  • Operate and maintain various machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Ensure tools are machined to precise specifications and tolerances.

Tool Repair and Maintenance:

  • Inspect tools for wear and damage, performing necessary repairs.
  • Implement a regular maintenance schedule to prevent tool failure.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand tool specifications.
  • Communicate effectively to streamline production processes and resolve issues.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct tests and evaluations to ensure tools perform as intended.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and quality guidelines.

Experience & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship or a related program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or toolmaking environment.

Skills:

  • Proficient in CNC machining and other tool-making techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address production challenges.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

The Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) Teacher will:

  • Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students receiving special education and related services.
  • Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications
  • Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.
  • Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.
  • Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.

Education/Certification:

  • Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)
  • A current Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Experience:

  • 1 year of successful teaching experience (preferably in a K-12 school setting)
  • 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience (preferred)
  • The ideal candidate has previous experience in Special Education.
