Perform a variety of routine clerical, administrative, and technical work in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information. Keeping official records and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the dispatch center.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Dispatch police and other response vehicles for emergency and non-emergency responses; broadcast nature, location, and time of incident. Contact all required personnel and other local concerns such as the fire department in the event of an emergency situation. Insure the presence of reserve units by contacting personnel designated for on-call and relay information as required.

Utilizing the department's computer aided dispatch (CAD), the dispatcher must maintain logs on radio, telephone and computer communications; location of personnel and equipment; in the event of an emergency situation: maintain on-going contact with the responding personnel and keep them informed of all incoming pertinent information; keeps track of various information such as traffic lights out, streets closed, etc., and keeps emergency personnel informed.

Maintains accountability of all officers at all times, for their safety and safety of others.

Notifies supervisory personnel of any emergency situation or condition which would require the reassignment of additional officers needed to provide for the public safety (i.e., notifies the shift commander of any major incident or natural disaster)

Disseminates motor vehicle, driver license, criminal record information, and monitors TTY's forwarding information to officers as necessary.

Monitor telephone (including 911 lines) and radio console (multiple radio channels) in the communications center, answering all incoming calls and ascertain nature of call gathering all necessary information to formulate an appropriate police or fire response.

Verify and update Criminal Information Bureau (CIB) files when additional information is received regarding a wanted person; checks with originating agency or our file to verify that the warrant/commitment is still valid prior to confirming same with arresting officer/agency.

Inputs data to standard office and department forms, both manual and automated; makes simple postings to various reports; compiles and tabulates data. Maintains dispatch documents and records.

Assist citizens who come into the station who wish to make a complaint, pay a ticket, speak with an officer, and obtain open records or for other reasons by asking perceptive questions and treating them with professionalism and courtesy.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Process monies for fines, sale of licenses and permits, balances the cash register and forwards deposit to the village treasurer.

Monitor all security cameras, door alarms and garage doors for building security.

Assist in the training of new hires.

Monitor all weather warning systems and 911 phone system.

Maintain communications bureau work area and equipment in clean and working condition.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Sheriff's Emergency Services Dispatchers are responsible for handling both 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and are responsible for dispatching deputies in the field over the radio.

Employees may be assigned training or lead roles that are eligible for premiums below:
  • Eligible employees shall be paid an additional 2.50 per hour to provide training to newly hired staff in the areas of telephone and radio communications in the Sheriff's Communication Center.
  • Eligible employees shall be paid 10% of their base pay when assigned as a lead dispatcher. Furthermore, employees receiving the lead premium shall not be eligible to receive the Sheriff's Dispatcher Training Premium.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE :

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the daily operations, strategic planning, and clinical services of the Emergency Department in alignment with system goals and standards.
  • Cultivate a high-performing team culture by fostering collaboration, professional development, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders including EMS, trauma services, physician leadership, and community agencies.
  • Oversee department budget, compliance, resource utilization, and performance improvement to ensure financial and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • RN - Current State of California Registered Nurse license required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of clinical experience in the Emergency Services setting required
  • 2 years of management experience required
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Experience with Medical Education programs required

Department/Unit Summary
Join our team in a dynamic 19-bed Emergency Room (ER) located on the 1st floor, with a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio. Our diverse staff includes RNs, Nurse Externs, Paramedics, EMTs, MAs, CNAs, Phlebotomists, Pharmacists, and Providers, creating a collaborative environment to deliver exceptional care. Known for our wide variety of patient care services, including cardiac, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, strokes trauma, bariatric accreditations, and offer the only Pediatric and PICU in Southern New Mexico. With an average daily volume of approximately 108 patients, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality emergency medical care while working alongside a dedicated team in a fast-paced setting.

How you'll contribute
Under the direction of the ER Director, manages and coordinates the clinical and other activities on the patient unit in order to provide quality patient care. Establishes goals and priorities in accordance with patient and staff needs and organizational objectives. Services are provided across the life span of an individual and within the spectrum of health care as designated for the department. In addition, provides service to patients throughout the life span including children, adults and geriatric age groups.
