Job Description
We are seeking a qualified ICC Certified Special Inspector with certifications in Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, and Structural Steel & Bolting to join our growing team. The successful candidate will perform field and/or laboratory inspections and testing of construction materials to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. This is a key role in maintaining safety, quality, and code compliance on commercial, industrial, and public projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform special inspections in accordance with IBC Chapter 17 and applicable project specifications.
- Conduct field inspections and materials testing on soils, concrete, masonry, and steel during construction activities.
- Prepare accurate and timely field reports documenting inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Interpret construction documents, codes, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while on job sites.
- Submit all required documentation and test results in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintain up-to-date certifications and participate in training as required.
Required Certifications (must have at time of hire):
- ICC Soils Special Inspector
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (a plus)
- NICET or other relevant certifications
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) a plus
- Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AWS, and IBC standards
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant field inspection experience
- Strong understanding of construction practices, materials, and safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and technical specifications

Description
The Civil Engineering Department Manager will play a key role in the organization's overall success. Will align and guide the overall strategy of the department and approach to the existing and future market space. We seek a candidate with proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach. A candidate who will identify themselves as a leader of engineers first and an engineer second. A person with a self-motivated attitude, able to multitask, and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
In addition, this person will:
- Communicate company goals and expectations to the department
- Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs
- Hire, train, and supervise project managers and engineering staff members, including but not limited to being engaged in external organizations to aid in brand awareness
- Collaborate with internal staff to create processes, standards, and procedures for engineering staff and other team members to follow
- Communicate and collaborate with other internal department managers to improve communication, execution, and quality control
- Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
- Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, mechanical or electrical engineering
- Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible engineering experience
- Five (5) years of management experience
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Must possess advanced problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a non-technical audience
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering management, business administration or related degree
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska
- Experience presenting at public events and directly to customers
- Held responsibility for departmental profit & loss

Job Details
As a Civil Engineering Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
2. Managing a team of civil engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure their professional development.
3. Collaborating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure all project requirements are met.
4. Utilizing your expertise in Roadway, Civil 3D, 2D AutoCAD to design and plan infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and public spaces.
5. Ensuring all projects adhere to relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
6. Conducting site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
7. Preparing and presenting project reports, proposals, technical drawings, and design specifications to clients and stakeholders.
8. Identifying and resolving any issues or challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Permanent Civil Engineering Manager position, candidates must possess the following:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) certification will be highly advantageous.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects such as roadways and public spaces.
3. Proven experience in managing and leading a team of engineers and technicians.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience in using Civil 3D, 2D AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
5. Strong understanding of construction processes, civil engineering principles, and project management best practices.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
7. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
8. A valid driver's license, as the role may involve travel to project sites.
