Overview:
NITS is seeking a qualified and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Azure) to support our client, a U.S. government agency, in the modernization and secure deployment of cloud-based infrastructure for enterprise DevSecOps operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust, secure, and scalable Azure Government cloud environments , supporting continuous integration and delivery pipelines in compliance with federal security standards.
This role requires strong expertise in Azure DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and federal IT compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-series guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred or equivalent professional experience)
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Experience with secure software development lifecycles
Must possess an active Secret clearance
Experience:
10+ years of relevant IT/cloud engineering experience
5+ years working with Federal or State government agencies
Experience designing and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines and secure cloud environments
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid remote/on-site team
Key Responsibilities:
Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar for both Azure Government and commercial cloud environments
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform , ARM templates , or Bicep for consistent, automated provisioning
Maintain secure environments in compliance with FedRAMP, FISMA, and other federal security requirements
Integrate security scanning tools into automated workflows (SAST, DAST, container scanning)
Manage Azure Key Vault , secret rotation, and identity access controls with Azure Active Directory
Oversee deployments across classified and unclassified environments with zero-downtime strategies (e.g., blue-green, canary releases)
Collaborate with development and security teams to optimize pipeline performance and ensure ATO readiness
Lead technical decision-making on architecture updates, cloud optimization, and deployment strategy
Required Skills and Expertise:
Expert in Azure DevOps or GitLab , Azure Cloud, and cloud-native CI/CD pipeline architecture
Strong understanding of government cloud security frameworks: FedRAMP , FISMA , NIST 800-53 , and DISA STIGs
Proficiency with Terraform , ARM/Bicep , and scripting for automated infrastructure provisioning, or other IaC tools.
Hands-on experience with security tools and testing frameworks integrated into DevSecOps pipelines
Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes , AKS ) and modern deployment strategies
Background in secure credential handling using Azure Key Vault and identity management best practices

The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for implementing, configuring and supporting technology solutions throughout the organization with a focus on Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions. The role requires both broad technology knowledge to address common customer business problems across the technology spectrum.
Position Type
This role is on-site for first 90 days and then eligible for a hybrid work model with 50% remote work from home.
Hourly + Bonus Program:
Base Salary
Cloud Infrastructure Administrator: $90,158 yearly
Senior Cloud Infrastructure Administrator: $108,190 yearly
Bonus Program
Eligible for profit sharing and up to two weeks additional paid time off. Both incentives are based on overall employee performance.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage existing technology solutions to ensure appropriate optimal performance, availability, and patching
- Analyze, log, track and resolve complex software/hardware issues pertaining to TCP/IP networks, printers, servers, and applications to meet business needs
- Perform troubleshooting as required, as such, lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
- Responsible for the development of current state documentation and knowledge base articles; Update documents regularly, and maintain accurate documentation on system performance and operational activities
- Create functional-need scripts to ease and simplify administration
- Adhere to and promote existing ITIL processes and standard procedures as documented
- Document standard configurations for administered systems

Secondary Responsibilities
- Execute sensitive data backup, restoration and eDiscovery procedures
- Implement recommended remediation from security and vulnerability audits

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Appropriate additional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for education
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable work experience in a systems administration or similar role
- Extensive Experience managing Active Directory (create and deploy GPOs, user/computer groups, manage organization permissions strategies)
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Cloud infrastructure (IaaS) solutions (Azure or AWS)
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure / 365 certifications
- Knowledge of network topology, firewalls, routers and wired/wireless infrastructures
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint administration

We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer that will work with talented software engineering and support teams to deploy, maintain and ensure reliability of our applications in a fast paced environment.
Successful candidates will possess:
- Passion for cloud computing and building innovative solutions in the cloud
- You have hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- You bring experience with Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation Templates.
- You are experienced with infrastructure automation tools – DataDog, Splunk, Jenkins, Artifactory.
- You have experience working with containers (Kubernetes) and serverless applications (Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3).
- You have a solid understanding of networking, virtualization, storage, containers, and serverless
- Understanding of run time environments and common issues with hands on experience using monitoring tools for Application, Service, Infrastructure and Data Quality Monitoring.
- You have experience working in an agile environment.
- You have a good demeanor towards solving problems skills that span systems, network, and applications.
- You bring a strong team focus with good relationship building skills + work with broader distributed team
- You have strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Certification in public Cloud (AWS) and Kubernetes is a plus.
What You’ll Do:
- Developing automation for developer experience tooling
- Building pipelines to enable developers to successfully migrate to Cloud
- Scripting ability in PowerShell or Bash Shell Unix Scripting
- Supporting customers through their infrastructure and code deployments
- Work with a team of Engineers to design, deploy, and optimize connectivity solutions in the cloud and on-prem.
- Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
