The Safety Coordinator reports to the Director of Safety & Training.

Responsibilities are focused on maintaining the safest possible workplace and OSHA Compliance. The Safety Coordinator will be hands-on and interact with Operations Personnel to implement and manage a proactive, behavior-based approach to Health and Safety, with a strong emphasis on Personal Responsibility, Incident Prevention, and a Management Systems approach to compliance; perform Health and Safety determinations, compliance audits, and risk assessments to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of Regulatory and Company requirements.

Essential Duties:

Safety professional has oversight of overhead/underground electric utility distribution system construction. Observes, coaches, trains employees in safe work practices, rules, procedures, and hazard recognition. Conducts risk assessments, job briefings, electrical assessments. Evaluates work practices to determine where skills improvement is necessary. Inspects excavations, confined spaces, work zones, OH/UG job sites.

Basic qualifications for this position:

Must have experience/proficiency in overhead and underground electric operations and procedures. Understand DOT/FMSCA and utility damage prevention requirements. Utility-related work experience and training preferred. Must be able to work unsupervised and travel to various worksites. Strong presentation skills leading regular Safety Meetings and other trainings. Provide technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or illnesses. Must be willing to travel if needed.

Utility Journeyman qualification and 3-5 years of safety-related or specialized technical experience. Certification in, or pursuit of any of the following: Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) Occupational Health and Safety Technology (OHST) Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The employee will be exposed to a variety of conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

The Electrical Engineer will have electrical ownership of Production Units and Electrical Programs served by (4) 138KV feeds from the Utility with a breaker-and-a-half bus scheme, which are complimented by (2) gas fired Cogeneration plants (75MW each), (2) steam turbines (50MW each) with a total generation of 250MW. The electrical distribution is made up of almost 300 substations with nominal voltages of 35KV, 12KV, 4.16KV, 2.4KV, and 480V which serve plant loads.

The Electrical Engineer is a staff function with no direct reports. The role is a key member of the Electrical Engineering Department with many interfaces within the plant and outside the plant with vendors and other partners. Interpersonal skills, negotiating skills, networking ability and the ability to manage multiple interfaces with varying needs and priorities are critical factors for this position. The Electrical Engineer role is a highly collaborative and dynamic position. Successful candidates must be able to work alone or as part of a team. Primary interfaces are with other members of the Electrical Engineering Department; Process Engineering staff; Operations, Maintenance, Production staff; other discipline personnel; contract engineers; and vendor/manufacturer ’s representatives in support of 24x7 operation of the site. In this role, a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) work process and expert analytical skills are employed to improve the performance of our assets while providing strategic support to the maintenance organization for electrical issues.

Ø Developing, mapping out and maintaining a 10-year strategy to enhance and maintain the reliability of obsolete, modern, and proposed power distribution project solutions to maximize business profitability.

Ø Deliver quality assurance for electrical projects in the area supported.

Ø Provide engineering guidance to area Electrical Specialist for repair of electrical installations.
