Job Summary:
American Express is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to join our IT & Software Security team in Chicago, IL. You will be responsible for monitoring our systems for security incidents, responding to threats, conducting vulnerability assessments, and implementing security measures to protect our valuable data and infrastructure. This role is critical in safeguarding our financial systems and customer information against evolving cyber threats.

Responsibilities:

Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM tools.
Investigate security incidents and breaches.
Perform incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
Analyze malware and understand threat actor tactics.
Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
Configure and manage security tools (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, etc.).
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
Provide security awareness training to employees.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls.
Perform security audits and compliance checks.
Write security reports and documentation.
Participate in threat hunting activities.
Analyze security logs and network traffic.
Respond to security questionnaires and audits from external parties.
Evaluate new security technologies.
Assist in forensic investigations.
Contribute to the development of security playbooks.
Manage security patch management processes.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR).
Conduct risk assessments.
Support security architecture reviews.
Communicate security risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
Participate in on-call rotation for security incidents.
Use scripting languages to automate security tasks.
Develop custom detection rules.
Stay informed about geopolitical events impacting cybersecurity.
Provide support for security-related projects.
Work with external security vendors.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the security posture.
Perform security code reviews.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security.
Knowledge of security principles, concepts, and technologies.
Experience with SIEM tools and security monitoring.
Understanding of network protocols and security vulnerabilities.
Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
Familiarity with incident response methodologies.
Relevant security certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CEH) are a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work under pressure during security incidents.
Knowledge of scripting languages is beneficial.
Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to document technical procedures clearly.
