The Role
This Control Systems Engineer will work with a multi-disciplinary group of engineers, designers, and drafters providing technical services to public and private sector clients. Responsibilities include PLC/HMI/SCADA programming and troubleshooting, industrial communication protocol setup/testing, and VFD configuration and testing for industrial applications related to process manufacturing, aerospace, chemical processing, and municipalities. Tasks include site control system studies, network and control panel designs, and assisting with instrumentation commissioning.
The Responsibilities
- Directing control systems testing, equipment commissioning, field testing and system acceptance including operational readiness testing.
- PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming and upgrade.
- Supporting multi-disciplinary teams on engineering projects, with a demonstrated commitment to successful project delivery.
- Developing drawings and specifications for construction. Drawings for construction include network communication block diagrams, control panel details, wiring termination diagrams, instrument location plans, and instrument installation details.
- Equipment selection, cost estimating, equipment layout and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- On-call (after hours and weekends) support of major public infrastructure and transportation.
The Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 3 years of experience in PLC programming and HMI or SCADA configuration, with 1 year of field experience. In lieu of a college degree, additional experience will be considered.
- Working knowledge of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and motor control schematics.
- Demonstrated ability using Ethernet and control system communication protocols.
- Experience with Rockwell, Wonderware, and similar PLC/HMI software.
- Travel up to 25% of the year may be required.
- A registered professional engineer is preferred.
