Key Responsibilities

● Fabricate, install, and route high-voltage and low-voltage wiring harnesses in compliance with safety and quality standards.

● Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings to install or replace instrument clusters, dashboards, and other electronic components such as onboard computers, lidar, cameras, etc.

● Perform prototype harness builds, debug issues, and support design verification for custom vehicle builds.

● Diagnose and troubleshoot CAN bus and OBD communications, including analyzing message traffic using CAN analyzers.

● Support integration of subsystems like BMS, motor controllers, and displays over the CAN bus network.

● Support setup, replacement, and diagnosis of motor controller systems, including communication and integration with BMS and other ECUs.

● Assist in software/firmware updates of critical control modules including BMS, motor controllers, and displays via OBD or proprietary interfaces.

● Execute test plans provided by the engineering teams, carry out troubleshooting of issues, and provide comprehensive reports.

● Collaborate with engineering, quality, and testing teams to identify and resolve electrical or system-level issues.

● Train other technicians on testing, troubleshooting, and vehicle servicing activities.

Qualifications & Skills

● Technical background (degree or vocational training) in automotive, electrical, or electronics engineering.

● Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.

● Hands-on experience in crimping, soldering, stripping, and harness assembly, including connector familiarity and quality techniques.

● Fabrication of prototype test rigs and wiring subsystems.

● Strong proficiency in diagnosing EV electrical systems, including CAN, Ethernet, high-voltage systems.

● Practical understanding of BMS and motor controller communication over CAN and integration of vehicle subsystems.

● Use of test equipment like oscilloscopes, voltmeters, current probes; canadapters experience with tools such as Vector CANalyzer or PicoScope.

● Bonus (Preferred) Qualifications:

This role is an important position on the RED-Rochester team that provides stewardship and technical guidance for the operation, maintenance, improvement, and expansion of the Eastman Business Park microgrid in Rochester, New York. The Utilities Engineer shall be the senior technical resource for RED’s overall electrical generation and power distribution systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development and maintain a long-range strategic master plan for the operations, maintenance, hardening, and future expansion of the Eastman Business Park electrical distribution system to meet new customer loads and increasing electrification of RED’s utility assets.
  • Function as the lead technical resource providing direction in the areas of medium voltage (600V to 34.5KV) distribution equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear, cable, motors and turbine generators.

Summary of Position:

This position involves the installation of conduit and wiring of devices and controllers for Building Automation Systems. The technician must be capable of reading and interpreting MEP plans & specifications, and capable of reading and interpreting BAS Submittal Drawings. We do require applicants to possess a valid driver’s license, and they must qualify to operate a company vehicle. This role will provide services primarily in the area of West Palm Beach.

Level 1 Requires consistent supervision while laying out the installation of projects. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts on the job site. Must be able to support the Journeyman’s needs with the installation of electrical conduit, electrical conductors, junction boxes, and Building Automation material. The team member must be willing to learn the standard processes, procedures, and products that the company invests in. (1-3 years of experience)

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Proactively work in a safe and efficient manner in the context of performing the functions of your position.
  • Ensure that customer satisfaction is always 100%.
  • Interact professionally with customers and contractors as required.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project managers and team leads to meet the needs of all project requirements.
  • Assist teammates as needed.
  • Installation of control wiring, control components, EMT conduit, reading and understanding electrical diagrams, working from ladders.
  • Reading MEP plans and other Construction documents.
  • Provide status reports of work related to any project involvement.
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Possesses or willing to obtain OSHA Safety Certificate

Requirements

  • GED or High school diploma with at least one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and must qualify to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must possess documented experience/training on various systems and controls.
  • Ability to work overtime, varied shift hours and occasional travel as needed.
  • Effectively able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong computer skills are necessary for Level 3, and would be preferred, but not a necessity for Level 1-2.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, contractors, supervisor, and fellow team members.
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs., bend, climb, kneel, twist, stand and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functions

Schedule:

  • 40-hour work week
  • Day shift
  • Night shift, overtime, and weekends - as needed and approved by leadership
  • Travel - as needed
