You will be working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit providing support in our medical icu, surgical icu, and asthmatic, ingestions. The candidate must have at least one year of pediatric critical care advanced practice provider experience. Well rounded job summary with an exceptional team! The candidate would be routinely performing Lumbar Punctures, femoral central venous line placement, peripheral arterial line placement, as well as ventilator management experience. Servo ventilators, LTV, and Trilogy vents are the vents the candidate would use. Candidate must be an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification or experienced Physician Assistant.

- The Neuro Intensivist Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP) is a certified, licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant who independently and collaboratively works with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to acutely ill and/or medically complex patients in the neuro-intensive care unit. Our multidisciplinary team includes dedicated EEG services, inpatient neurology consultants, dedicated fellowship trained neuro-intensivist physicians who work closely with neurosurgery and neuro-interventional teams.
Job Summary:
The Neuro Intensivist Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP) is a certified, licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant who independently and collaboratively works with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to acutely ill and/or medically complex patients in the neuro-intensive care unit. Our multidisciplinary team includes dedicated EEG services, inpatient neurology consultants, dedicated fellowship trained neuro-intensivist physicians who work closely with neurosurgery and neuro-interventional teams.
Job Requirements:
- Must be a board certified and licensed Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant/Associate.
- Must have National Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain NPI, prior to employment start date and meet current Medicare requirements for billing.
- Must hold current DEA Registration with schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 and State issued prescribing authority.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Emergency
- Neurological Life Support (ENLS).
- Preferred experience of working at least one (1) year in the neuro-critical care setting as a NP or PA or neuro ICU experience as a RN.

How You’ll Be Successful
Summary:
Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. This job is intended for Registered Nurse Pool assignments: CCS (Critical Care Services). Will float to all critical care service areas. This includes NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit), TICU (Trauma Intensive Care Unit), and PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). ED, PACU, Acute Care areas as needed.
Responsibilities
- Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
- Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
- Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
- Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
- Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.
- At least 1-year acute care pediatric critical care hospital experience required
- Four-year Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Req
- BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association Req
- PALS/NRP/ACLS (Department specific requirements - see addendum) Req
- Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification (no later than April 20, 2022). (Department specific requirement - see addendum) Req
- In some service areas, Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be renewed annually Req

- Will deliver care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidence based practice.
- Continuously inquires about the condition of the patient through the ongoing process of questioning and evaluating the situation and implements treatment changes, if necessary, through collaboration with the health care team, inclusive of the patient and family.
- Maintains a body of knowledge and tools that allow the nurse to manage whatever environmental and system resources exist for the patient/family, within or across healthcare and non-healthcare systems.

- Requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines within the broader professional field
