Job Description- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Works Rotating Weekends and Works Holidays)

The Resource Coordinator Environmental Services will assist in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Environmental Services department. The coordinator will assign the tasks of the reporting staff and ensure that staff is trained in accordance with JCAHO and hospital guidelines. The coordinator will be responsible for scheduling staff to meet the needs of the facility, and in doing so, stay in line with budgetary constraints. In the absence of the Manager the coordinator will act as the administrative liaison between key customer contacts and these Departments.
The coordinator will work to ensure conformance to the standards and policies of the institute and the NMH mission. These include, but are not limited to: budgets, inventory control, maintaining sanitation levels, quality controls/checks, and educational planning. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for assisting with evaluations of staff, staff development and competencies, staff procurement, and retention.
The Resource Coordinator EVS reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The coordinator will learn all associated software systems and be able to effectively schedule staff and monitor productivity, in compliance with current NMH and departmental guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and review standards and work procedures for all Environmental Services staff in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility. Plan work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate EVS coverage. Assists Manager in the supervision of various aspects of the departments and collaborates with managers and coordinators to achieve the departments and NMH mission, goals and objectives
- Participate in the interview process, evaluate, and recommend termination of facility Environmental Services personnel in accordance with facility standards. Orientate, train, and supervise all Environmental Services staff under span of control.
- Regularly inspect and evaluate physical condition of facility and supervise the relocation and storage of all furnishings and equipment, as well as the relocation of space to improve the sanitation and appearance of the facility. Report unsafe conditions and conduct research to improve EVS technology.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and communicate with members of other departments to coordinate EVS activities. May serve on facility-wide committee. Conduct daily touch points and coaching with EVS staff.
- Schedule major project work, ensuring that adequate staff and supplies are available to perform tasks. Ordering supplies and equipment using Peoplesoft requisitions.
- Conducts regular inventory of housekeeping supplies and order same. Keeps costs in line with approved budgetary amounts.
- Scheduling and Time Card responsibilities of assigned staff using Kronos ATR application.
- Coordinates and manages scheduling on a shift. Manages employees’ timecards utilizing Kronos ATR.
- Anticipates staffing needs for subsequent shift and makes necessary arrangements for coverage
- Assumes responsibility for efficient and effective use of time and effort of all staff, including agency and ancillary
QUALITY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- LEADERSHIP/PROBLEM SOLVING
- Functions as a role model for “Patients First” standards and interprets criteria staff
- Coordinates critical situations involving patients, staff, visitors and consults with manager or administrator for guidance as needed (e.g, complaints, discipline, etc.)
- Facilitates effective interdepartmental communication of incidents with appropriate personnel (Manager, Administrator, Medical Staff, etc.)
- Promotes philosophy and objective of the Hospital, Division and Department.
- Provides a environment conductive to communication and cooperation among patients, staff and visitors
- Identifies and communications key issues and trends to manager
- Provides input to manager on budget issues, particularly staffing and cost containment.
- Participates in departmental leadership council
- STAFF DEVELOPMENT
- Assess and communicates staff development needs to Manager.
- Work in conjunction or under the leadership of Building/Manager
Required:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions
Preferred:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $40,000-$55,000 per year. RISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees: coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse/dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%. There is no vesting period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.
