About Us: The Legal Services Division is a team of dedicated attorneys who represent survivors of domestic violence for free and without regard for ability to pay.
The Legal Services Division Staff Attorney will spend each day working directly with survivors including representing the survivors in Domestic Violence Court. It is a paperless and efficient practice to allow the attorney to focus on serving survivors without getting bogged down in paperwork. The salary is very competitive for similar type employment along with generous benefits and PTO policy.
The ideal candidate will have family law and/or dependency law experience but it is not required. Spanish fluency in reading and writing is also an asset but not required. A Florida Bar license and a desire to make a powerful impact on the lives of abused women, men and children is required.

Legal Services Coordinator (Floater)
New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) is an employment-focused non-profit agency assisting court-involved citizens. NJRC is currently seeking a Legal Services Coordinator (Floater). The ideal candidate is a professional with a legal background who is interested in helping court-involved citizens restore their lives in a holistic fashion. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, with a full benefits package.
The position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer. NJRC operates facilities statewide, and the candidate will be expected to travel to each of NJRC’s 8 reentry sites as directed by the Chief Legal Officer. The candidate will be trained in the relevant areas of law, including criminal, Municipal Court, and related administrative law.
The ability to learn and use NJRC’s customized Salesforce implementation is essential. Salesforce training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Floater: The Floater will not be assigned to any particular reentry site and will travel to each of the 8 NJRC reentry sites as directed by the Chief Legal Officer. The Floater will substitute for Legal Services Coordinators who are out for periods of sick or paid time off. When substituting, the Floater will be responsible for the absent employee’s regular Legal Services Coordinator duties. When substitution at a reentry site is not required, the Floater will travel to different reentry sites to assist the resident Legal Services Coordinator with caseload backlog (e.g., letter writing, birth certificate applications, or assessment preparation) or general day to day duties.
- Legal Services Coordinator: The employee may be required to conduct an orientation week session for new participants, hold office hours, prepare and review assessments with participants, correspond with government agencies, and perform data entry, evaluation, and review.
- Assist participants with necessary applications and recovery of identification.
- Ability to assist participants with virtual Municipal Court appearances.
- Ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Travel to NJRC facilities, courts, NJ administrative offices, and other appointments around the state.
Required:
- Ability to learn and use the Salesforce system is an absolute requirement of this position.
- Knowledge of criminal justice issues or willingness to be taught by the Chief Legal Officer and Senior Director of Legal Services.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- A strengths-based and trauma-informed approach is a must.
- Excellent writing skills.
Preferred:
- Pre-law undergraduate degree.
- Experience with the Salesforce system.
- Direct experience with court-involved citizens.
- Spanish speakers and part-time law school students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Las Americas is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to serving immigrants and asylum seekers with high quality legal services, advocacy, and support in the borderland communities surrounding El Paso, Texas and southern New Mexico. Founded in 1987 by the visionary co-founders of Annunciation House, Las Americas was designed to address the unmet legal needs of Central Americans fleeing civil war and political unrest in the 1980s. Since its founding, Las Americas has served over 50,000 persons, while advocating for a robust asylum system, working to reunify separated families, and advocating for systemic change to US immigration policy and practices.

Las Americas is at a key inflection point in its organizational history. The demand for high quality legal services for immigrants is at an all time high and capacity is limited. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Advocacy and Legal Services will work closely with the Executive Director and legal program staff to articulate and execute a vision for all legal programs and services offered by the organization. The Director of Legal Services will supervise the legal team in an effort to best serve the mission of Las Americas. The directors time will be distributed as follows: legal strategy and advocacy (40%); management and supervision (40%); program development and evaluation (10%), and case work (10%).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal Strategy and Advocacy
- Chart the short term and long term strategic direction for all legal programs and advocacy efforts in close collaboration with the Executive Director, fundraising staff, and program team supervisors and staff
- Develop internal team structure and legal services model that meets community and staff needs (in partnership with other members of the management team)
- Develop a thoughtful talent pipeline for all legal service roles (in partnership with other members of the management team)
- Authorize all advocacy endeavors as appropriate including but not limited to rapid response, sign on letters, statements, strategic interviews, advocacy meetings, and public actions in conjunction with the Executive Director
- Position Las Americas as a trusted community resource (in partnership with other members of the management team)
- Engage with the public, media, and donors regarding immigration policies and local border issues pertaining to immigration and the legal program at Las Americas as needed
- Serve as point of contact on all active impact litigation involving Las Americas as plaintiff
- Develop policies related to engaging in impact litigation
- Represent Las Americas in key coalitions and partner tables locally and nationally (in partnership with other members of the management team)
- Management and Supervision
- Quality control of the legal output through regular qualitative audits of each team (in partnership with other members of the management team)
- Assist supervisors and lead attorneys in assigning cases to staff attorneys, accredited representatives and paralegals, based on area of expertise and current caseload
- Effectively manage legal interns, volunteers (including pro-bono attorneys) based on team needs
- Optimize legal services capabilities through collaboration with private bar and other non-profit legal service providers (in partnership with other members of the management team)
