The role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop products from concept through to production. You’ll be part of a small, mission-driven team and have significant ownership over decisions. We’re growing quickly so there are ample opportunities for career growth.

This role is based out of our San Francisco Office.

How you’ll contribute

• Architect and design complex electromechanical systems, including plastic, metal, and soft goods components integrated with novel sensors and actuators.

• Drive designs across the entire development lifecycle, including brainstorming, CAD, prototyping, testing, and ramp into production in Asia.

• Solve highly cross-functional problems by working with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams.

• Perform analysis and testing to ensure designs meet product goals, including thermal, fluid, and structural analyses.

• Help shape the direction of our products and features by collaborating with industrial design, marketing, and product teams as well as company leadership.

What you need to succeed

• 5+ years of consumer product design experience with knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal forming, soft goods, and electromechanical systems.

• Experience shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.

• Highly proficient with 3D modeling (e.g. Solidworks, NX, Creo).

• Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).

• Solid understanding of root cause analysis, DOEs, and other quality measuring techniques.

• BSME or equivalent.

• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.

Job Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will utilize expertise in equipment design, modification, and computational fluid dynamics. • Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics software to analyze and optimize fluid flow and heat transfer.

• Conduct feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and system simulations to enhance equipment performance.

• Develop detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid system issues in production applications.

• Work with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation and control systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Holt Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Product Design Mechanical Engineer for its Waco, Texas location. The Product Design Engineer (Mechanical) will create and analyze structural designs and technical documentation for Holt Manufacturing products. The position is responsible for the management of designs from the initial concept to completion.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:

· Lead reviews of project technical specifications with collaborating engineering and operations team members to develop/define product concepts

· Define structural specifications, loading limits, stress and fatigue points, etc. through analysis

· Modify drawings to incorporate customer, manufacturing, and technical changes

· Create or modify Holt Manufacturing product designs and technical documents (bill of materials (BOM), product support procedures)

· Review and verify product designs and bill of materials with operations to determine project meets safety, manufacturability, and quality objectives

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design.
Proven experience with weapon integration and safety-critical mechanical systems.
Strong leadership background, including experience guiding engineering teams.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling tools (CREO preferred).
Working knowledge of product data management systems (e.g., Windchill).
Familiarity with MIL-STD-2088 and ASME Y14.5 standards.
Strong planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desired Skills
Expertise in mechanism design including cams, gears, linkages, and springs.
Experience with kinematic analysis and tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ADAMS, or ANSYS Motion.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

• Drive technical solutions of next-gen and novel defense platforms
• Design, integrate, and iterate mechanical solutions for armament systems, support equipment, safety-critical hardware, avionics, and for flight hardware
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to deliver results from concept through field deployment
• Develop Solutions from concept to deployment
• Generate technical data packages
• Work hands on with equipment
• Generating execution strategies and executing those strategies, Adaptability is paramount.
• You must operate at the speed of relevance—engineering real-time solutions that meet mission demands as they evolve.
