Job description : The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works under the general direction of the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The CMA is responsible for the delivery of integrative patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. This position collaborates with the nurse practitioner/physician assistant to ensure effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. This position is also responsible for covering the front desk areas including patient’s check-in, and collection of fees. The CMA is expected to enter appropriate documentation in the electronic medical records, perform in-office labs, patient education, perform other duties assigned within the scope of your licensure.
Job Types: Full-time, permanent
Salary: 18.00-$18.50 an hour
Schedule: 38-40 hours per week, M-THURS (8:00am-5:00pm, flexible, will work 8:00AM-12:00PM one day during week) and Friday (8:00am-8:00pm) with lunch break 12:00-1:00pm
Medical specialty : Family Medicine -patient population is 12 years and older
Job Requirements : Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. 1+ years of professional medical assisting in a family practice setting is preferred. National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification. Must pass 5 panel drug screening and background check. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Friendly personality! Strong attention to detail and fast learner. Strong organizational skills and multitasking. Previous experience in specific medical field preferred.
Your Job Responsibilities:
· Maintain Strick patient health confidentiality
- Administer oral and injectable medications and immunizations
- Assist patients with insurance forms and claims
- Assist the NP/PA with exams and procedures such as PAP smear/pelvic exam
- Call or fax prescriptions to pharmacies if needed
- Change minor dressings
- Collect data about previous health, medical and surgical history from patients
- Collect and process specimens for lab tests
- Document in paper or electronic medical records
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Enter data from monitoring and tracking systems such and vaccine and medication refrigerators, and other quality or safety data
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Manage specialty referrals, prior authorizations
- Measure patient vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, pulse oximetry and temperature), height and weight
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Perform billing tasks, prioritize and multi-task
- Perform in-office lab tests and procedures (i.e. glucose finger stick, EKGs, COVID 19, flu and strep testing)
- Perform specialized testing such as EKGs, vision screening
- Provide patient education as directed by the provider, understanding medical terminology
