JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct speech therapy to children at home or in other alternate delivery sites to help each child reach his or her maximum communication ability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelors degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
Experience: Experience working with children in a school or clinic setting preferred.
Or, completion of a 3 month mentorship under the direct supervision of aSpeech-Language Pathologist.
Licensure - Maintain current Texas license for Speech and Language Pathology
DUTIES:
Assures that speech and language services are provided in accordance with the standards of practice established by the American Speech and Hearing Association and state and federal laws.
Follows a plan of care established by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist, addressing short-term goals on each visit with advancement toward meeting long-term goals. Areas of treatment may include: phonological development, voice and fluency, expressive and receptive language, i.e., semantics, pragmatics, syntax and morphology; and oral structures, oral motor skills and swallowing.
Maintains therapy schedule to ensure consistent, quality and comprehensive services within agency productivity guidelines.
Completes timely and accurate written documentation for each client encounter.
Completes missed visit notes for each visit that is unable to be rescheduled in the frequency week of Sunday through Saturday.
Communicates with family, various staff and others regarding the needs, goals and progress of clients.
Provides training to family and caregivers as needed.
Participates in case conferences to discuss client progress and problem resolution with other care team members.
Participates in Direct and Indirect Supervision to maintain licensure compliance.
Participates in Agency and community in-services.
Maintains good relations, open communications and provides outstanding customer service to clients, parents, caregivers, referral sources and other staff members.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of theories and practices associated with the Speech and Language Therapy profession.
