Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaches Engineering Technology (CNBT 1342) courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  3. Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  4. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  5. Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  6. Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress
  7. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  8. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with exposure to safety hazards typical within the industry
  • Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in engineering graphics, drafting technology or computer-aided design in the structural, civil or architectural fields and minimum 3 years work experience in the field. Or Bachelor's degree in architecture or structural/civil engineering or engineering technology or construction management and minimum 3 years work experience in the field.
Salary

$53.82 per contact hour.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Directs the day-to-day functions of the Engineering and Design area including special project assignments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the administration and execution of Capital and Special Projects for the engineering and design of New Starts and Small Starts Projects, such as Bus Rapid Transit, Streetcar, or Light Rail projects from preliminary engineering through construction. Oversees Consultants and Contractors performing work in association with these projects and works closely with stakeholders, including senior officials of partner agencies, from concept phase through final completion. Scope includes developing the technical portion of the Request for Qualifications or Proposals and participation in the selection process and/or developing Request for Bids and reviewing bid proposals and prices for fair and reasonable costs;
  • Responsible for adhering to all federal requirements through the engineering and design and project development phases of federally funded projects or projects that may be eligible for federal funding in the future, including NEPA and URA compliance.
  • Responsible for analyzing current engineering methods used within the company and develop steps and processes for improvement; apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and standards to ensure plans' conformance with COTA design standards;
  • Lead coordination efforts internally and externally with various municipalities as well as private entities to track and maintain a log of projects/plan reviews received by COTA; responsible for leading, reviewing and commenting on project designs (roadway modifications and improvements as well as site development plans) submitted by various municipalities, developers, and private entities within the COTA taxing district for compliance with the Design Guideline Manual for Bus Stops and Bus Shelters.
  • Develops and maintains engineering and design standards for the organization including CAD standards, standard drawings, standard specifications, and lists or relevant codes, references, and standards relevant to Authority design work; plans and designs transportation systems and structures, following construction and government standards, using computer aided design software, and drawing tools;
  • Ensures projects are tracked by completing monthly reports, tracking budgets, developing project schedules, change order management, invoice approval and tracking, stakeholder coordination and presentations at public forums;
  • Provides technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications to industrial and managerial personnel;

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Possession of a valid State of Ohio certificate as a registered Professional Engineer and five (5) years of managerial experience in transit planning, transit design or transportation project management or a closely related field that included planning, project design or construction, operations, or professional engineering work. An equivalent combination of education and relevant applicable experience will also be considered.
  • Professional Engineers License required; LEED Certification or PMP preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Design & Construction : Oversee distribution and transmission projects, managing power line routing, staking, easements, and cost estimates.
  • Drive Reliability : Direct PRECorp’s Performance Reliability Enhancement Program (PREP) through inspection and design initiatives.
  • Manage Teams : Supervise and mentor Design Engineers, Engineering Design Coordinators, and Distribution Design Technicians, fostering a high-performing team.
  • Support Compliance : Play a major role in PRECorp’s WECC/NERC compliance program, ensuring accuracy and supporting audits and documentation.
  • Set Standards : Collaborate with internal managers and external consultants to develop and implement construction standards for distribution and transmission systems.
  • Handle Multiple Priorities : Effectively manage numerous projects and priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Support Customers : Work closely with members to meet their electrical needs and assist in emergency restoration during outages.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (power system design, planning, or coordination focus preferred).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Wyoming, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • 15+ years of experience in powerline design and engineering (transmission and distribution), with supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of formal leadership managing engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

This role combines operational expertise with a focus on systems management, process optimization, and training content development to enhance efficiency and support the DPS operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems Access & Integration:
  • Facilitate system access for flight operations personnel.
  • Oversee external technologies that interface with operational systems, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Builds and maintains effective business partnerships with other Flight Ops business units, Delta Line Maintenance, Delta IT, OCC, MCC, and related vendors.
  • Collaborates with the DPS PM, EFB Application team and Tech Pilots to test, troubleshoot, and support iPad EFB Applications
  • Process Optimization & Synergy:
  • Analyze and refine operational processes to enhance efficiency across flight operations workflows.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create synergies between technology, training, and operational procedures.
  • Develop and implement best practices for system utilization and process improvement.

Training Content Development:

  • Create training videos and instructional materials to support DPS operations on system usage, external technologies, and operational enhancements.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives, ensuring DPS flight operations personnel are proficient in using technology to improve flight operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for new system rollouts affecting flight crews.
